at lavenders,
It’s more than just flowers.
Throughout my career, my job has morphed into something more than just floral design. I am an artist, a flower fairy godmother, and a creative guru. My skills now include extracting information and interpreting that vision into tangible design elements that shape the framework of each project. That's why I say, “at Lavenders, it's more than just flowers”. Here, we work with intention. We live with intention. You can trust that we put deep thought into every detail, no matter how big or small.
Lavenders is where my artistic nature runs free and utilizes flowers as a medium to transform environments, express my client’s vision, and make an unforgettable occasion for all. Being trusted to tell your story with flowers is what motivates me every single day. Every thought, plan, and detail is done with intention. There are no shortcuts when it comes to our creative process. We believe in “whole-ass’ing” everything we do by customizing each element to your specific vision. We do not take shortcuts, we are not afraid to get our hands dirty and we certainly do not shy away from a creative challenge.
Alongside designing for events, I share everything I’ve learned along the way to educate and empower creatives and entrepreneurs to realize their full potential. I strive to create long-lasting bonds that are built on trust and a common wish for things that are wildly unique and magical. Nothing makes me happier than working hand-in-hand with my fellow creatives. Alongside my community, I am humbled to make the world a little more beautiful each floral arrangement at a time.
i want to help you build your dreams.
xoxo, Janelle Thomson

In addition to Lavenders Flowers, I passionately operate a hand dyed silk textile company, Tono + Co. Working closely with brides for over a decade, color became the natural center of my work, leading to the tradition of hand-dyeing fabrics. Tono + co finds its inspiration in the first-hand knowledge I gained while studying painting & color theory in Florence, Italy.

Our wedding is an example of what having me fully curate a wedding looks like.
My creative process is rooted in storytelling. I start with characters, and a setting, then as each chapter of design unfolds more of the plot is revealed. Getting engaged and getting a chance to write my own design story was daunting. I started by digging into what we really felt like us. I chose to let the pressure take over and when I felt it creep up I knew to fall back on our story to help guide our decisions. There were moments I was frozen with analysis paralysis, there are so many choices - I know! It’s in these moments that having a clear vision and direction to lean on was vital to my sanity. I was able to enjoy the creative process and focused my energy on designing with intention and budget-friendly-innovation. The next time a Pinterest or Instagram idea popped into my orbit it was easy to decide to engage or move on by asking a few questions to myself. Does this new idea help tell our story? Will it add or take away from the setting and plot?
I’m pumped you’re here!
What do you say we get this party started?
